Sam Bodkin
As founder of Groupmuse, Sam has evolved alongside an ecosystem of more than 10,000 chamber music gatherings and almost a quarter of a million community members. Uncountably many nights in living rooms, backyards, rooftops, warehouses, Masonic Temples have turned Sam into vast repository of stories and perspectives: from audience members who are first discovering classical music to folk who have loved classical music all of their lives; from young musicians just starting out to world famous stars, from a cooperative millennial chamber music collective in Portland, Maine to the New York Philharmonic. He's seen the classical music world from every angle and his commitment to telling a new story around this art form has permanently changed the culture of classical music performance. His work has been written about in the New York Times, Time Magazine and many more.
Sam also lives under the name Heavy Meadow. As eco-spiritual bard Heavy Meadow has toured the country extensively and built a diverse and far reaching musical community around his own music. His commitment to his creative life is an essential element of his perspective as a change maker in the classical music industry.
Whether it's Sam from Groupmuse or Heavy Meadow, he has seen and lived the power of narrative to change the world.
