Roma Verso la Luce

Follow soprano Natalia Pavlova as she takes us on a journey from darkness to light—singing with renowned artists in the ancient crypts, churches and rooftops of Rome during the height of the pandemic.

Part I: Darkness

Resounding from the ancient underground dwellings of the church of St. Crisogono, Natalia sings music by Renaissance and early Baroque masters

Part II: Good Friday

Ascending to the ground level of St. Crisogono, Natalia shares a beautiful lullaby exploring themes of heavenly love and earthly sorrow; written by Baroque composer Tarquinio Merula

Part III: Resurrection

Natalia visits the 4th century basilica San Marcello al Corso, where she offers two songs as forms of prayer to all those who have struggled during the pandemic

Part IV: VErso La Luce

Natalia joins renowned cellist Giovanni Sollima in the church of Santa Bibiana to perform Voi sapete che v'amo, a work composed by Sollima inspired by the great Italian painter Caravaggio
